How You Can Help

Everyone coming together in the Waveney district to help the vulnerable and high risk in our community during the Coronavirus Covid-19 crisis. Covering Lowestoft, Oulton Broad, Pakefield, Kessingland, Beccles, and other surrounding areas.

Join our Facebook Group and share with your friends and family to let them know we are here for them and we can help.

Food and Essentials

With so many in our local community having to self-isolate or struggling to get essential supplies, all donations are welcome. We can collect donations or you can drop off at various locations.

Volunteer

We are always in need of more volunteers to help us collect and distribute the essential supplies we are gathering for those most in need.

We also need other kinds of help such as social media admin assistance and so on. Thanks in advance.

Donate

It’s at times like this that the power of the community is vital. We are collecting essentials and delivering to the people who need it most at this worrying & difficult time: the Vulnerable, Elderly, High Risk.

We are 100% non-profit. This is us all just doing what we can to help. Your help will mean the world.

Spread the Care - not the Virus

Please follow all official Government and NHS guidance on self isolation, social distancing, and how to cope during this time of crisis and avoid any unnecessary risk. But please also continue to care for those who are most vulnerable in our community and also our key workers who are placing themselves at risk to help all of us survive this COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis.

Our Mission

The Coming Together Waveney Group was formed by Stacey Drennan on 15th March 2020 in response to the shocking impact the Coronavirus COVID-19 has had on our local community. The impact on those classed as most vulnerable and at high risk from the virus is particularly hard.

With the need for self-isolation and social distancing required to keep us all safe, combined with the shocking stock-piling of food and essential supplies we have seen across the country, the most vulnerable in our community simply need support to ensure they keep safe and well throughout this traumatic period.

Our Mission from day one has been to see that this happens. With our growing number of members, an incredible band of volunteers, and the kindness of strangers donating food, supplies, their time, and their hearts to this cause, we were able to help an incredible amount of families and vulnerable individuals during the first three-month lockdown period. As well as direct donations of supplies, we also raised just under £3000 via our original GoFundme page to help us ensure we could buy essential supplies.

With another lockdown due to start on 5th November 2020, combined with the cumulative, detrimental economic impact the pandemic has already had for so many, we are again mobilising our band of volunteers to help. This time, we are just asking for donations of supplies for now and help to get them to the people who desperately need them.

By Coming Together to help, we will succeed for those who need it most.

Join our new FEED FAMILIES Facebook Group

When the Government decided not to continue Free School Meals during the October half term or for the upcoming Christmas holidays, Coming Together’s Stacey Drennan and Gail Rajgor decided to set up the Feed Families Facebook Group. They launched it 23 October 2020, collecting donations from the local community to help ensure no child or parent went hungry during the October holidays and beyond.

In just 10 days, the Feed Families Group reached 363 members and had a small army of wonderful volunteers on board to help collect and deliver the incredible volume of donations received as well as help deal with the growing number of requests for help, general admin, and social media marketing. Since day one, it has been crazy busy but we are proud to say we have helped many families and we will continue to do so.

We couldn’t do it, of course, without the kindness of the local community – your donations have made mothers and fathers cry at the kindness you have shown and made children smile with joy that they got some fresh fruit (yay, oranges!) and vegetables, treats, and key store cupboard food that meant they would have a substantial meal each day. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Anyone who wishes to donate or needs help can contact us via this website or our Feed Families Facebook Group page.

In addition, we have launched two Amazon Wishlists (one for food, the other for hygiene products) through which we have also received countless donations too. Thank you everyone who has used them so far.

Why we are Coming Together in Waveney

Heartbreaking to know that our most vulnerable in the community are at greater risk due to the shortage of food and essential supplies in our stores. We cannot and will not let them go without. We are Coming Together in our community to do everything we can to help.  Whatever you can do to help us in our mission is gratefully received.

Getting the essential supplies to you

If you are (or someone you know is) elderly, vulnerable, or otherwise at high risk from Coronavirus due to underlying health conditions and are unable to source essential supplies, we are here to help.

We will do everything we can to source the supplies you need and get them to you safely. Please do not suffer in silence. We care and we will support you through this.

From The Heart

Today I spent a few minutes helping the group. Collected some veg and delivered to a lady and a young girl who was obviously in need. I was looking for no reward but the young lady gave me a stone she had made. My heart feels huge and I feel like I’ve won the lottery, but bigger. This group is doing amazing things …….. let’s all do our best x
